Who are you:
I’m Nuwan Panditha CG Technical Director and Graphic Designer.
Your current job:
I work as a freelancer in the advertisement field and as author on Envato Market. I collaborate on projects of various kinds with my colleagues and friends of C4-lab and Smoky bungalow VFX.
In which city are you located?
For now i’m based in Milan, Italy, but i’m planning to move in 2015.
A word to define what kind of worker you are:
I’m very passionate about my work, i’ve always been art oriented since i was a child.
I attended flight engineering at high school and even if it wasn’t the thing that matched the best with me it gave me something good, opening my mind to the technical aspect of things (5 years of physics), it was very helpful when i switched back to art, 3d and graphic design.
What tools are essential to your life (app, software, etc..)
My smartphone comes first, it’s essential but also too much noisy, sometimes i miss the Nokia age. The softwares i use more are Photoshop, Illustrator, Softimage XSI, 3d Studio Max, Maya, Eyeon Fusion, Nuke, After Effects.
What does your office space look like?
Very tidy in the beginning of the week and a total mess at the end.
What kind of music do you listen when you are working?
it really depends on the day and weather, i love funky, breakbeats, reggae, jazz, blues and lately zen meditation music, It sounds wired but give it a try, i think that it magically boosts my work.
Do you have a way to organize your day to maximize your work?
Yes, google keep and google calendar. In the morning i always write down what i want to do during the day, it helps me lot.
What tips would you give to improve productivity?
Turn off the phone, find ways to optimize the workflow. If you’re stuck on something, move on and get back to it later (if possible).
You’re better than your colleagues to:
I’m a pretty good dancer my colleagues absolutely not.
What is the best advice anyone has given you?
Spread goodness, it’ll come back to you as an echo. It’s real and it works.
What is your best tip for saving time?
Press CTRL+S or CMD+S if you’re on Mac more often.
What is your routine start and end of the day?
I’m a lot more productive in the morning, so i try to wake up very early do a fast breakfast and start to work. The goal is to get to lunch and be happy with what i’ve done in the morning. I don’t have a specific routine for the end of the day.
Aside from your computer and your phone, what gadget can you not go without?
My phone does everything, it’s the only gadget i need.
