Conor Gooner

Your current job:
I work as a 3D Generalist in the advertising industry by day, and freelance as a motion designer/animator by night. I am inspired by all forms of art, especially Disney, Miyazaki, Sylvain Chomet, and Jack Kirby. I also enjoy tacos.

In which city are you located?
Sydney, Australia.

A word to define what kind of worker you are :

What tools are essential to your life (app, software, etc..) :
3ds max, Vray, Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects, Zbrush, and my oversized Wacom tablet.


What does your office space look like?
Clean and simple, with an abundance of figurines/toys staring at me while I work.

What kind of music do you listen when you are working ?
Absolutely all sorts, it usually depends on the job I'm on, or the level of concentration I require, however more often than not Hip Hop would be my preferred choice.

Do you have a way to organize your day to maximize your work ?
Clearly plan out what I realistically intend to complete by the end of the day, and work to that. Oh, and post-it notes, lots of post-it notes...

What tips would you give to improve productivity ?
Abuse post-it notes (have I mentioned I like post-it notes), take breaks, drink water and switch projects.

You're better than your colleagues to :
Sleep deprivation. But seriously, I’m always trying to be surrounded by people which I consider better than me, so that I can constantly learn and improve.

What is the best advice anyone has given you ?
Never, ever stop learning and improving your game.

What is your best tip for saving time ?
My best tip for saving time is to make sure you are prepared and taking the time at the beginning of a project to research and get reference.

What is your routine start and end of the day ?
I usually start the day off by making a cup of tea and checking Behance/web for inspiration, and end the day with a beer in hand.

Aside from your computer and your phone, what gadget can you not you go without?
My headphones, I can not live without music. Also Behance and Instagram, for never-ending inspiration.
