A word to define what kind of worker you are:

Passionate and true to my style of work. I feel that every time a project falls into my hands I have to push myself to create something that tops what Ive done before. I focus always on the details within the designs and the way my clients receive the work I make. I believe that everything the client sees is a representation of yourself so from the way I respond e-mails to the presentations, to the work itself has to be delivered in a way that they can feel that you care and just on top of your game.

What does your office space look like?

I work from home in my apartment on the 7th. floor. A light and a clean space is super important. So I have white walls, a light wood desk where my essentials must be, my computer, phone, agenda, post its, pens and markers and a notebook to sketch, scribble, and just write my ideas down.

I think it´s hard to be your own boss so I try to help myself to stay motivated and inspired, that’s why I have things around the office that keep me motivated like my inspiration board with special quotes, photos of my role models, picture frames with my fave quotes. I also like to read motivational books, anything that can help me accomplish my goals, design books, books about women empowerment, my favorite books from my childhood, and others. I have all of my books right by my desk and a closet full of materials to sketch, draw, paint, etc.

What kind of music do you listen when you are working ?

Music is a MUST when I work, I think that 90% of the time that Im working I like to listen to music. Depending on what Im working on is what Ill listen to. When it comes to making presentations and get my writting going I listen to acoustic or jazz music, or if Im getting inspired or designing I really like to listen upbeat music. I really do listen to all types of music but currently my go to playlist is the Weekend´s latest album.

Do you have a way to organize your day to maximize your work ?

Yes, its part of my routine. After a long day of work I have to clean out my space. Get things in order, and I write down all of my to-dos and figure out what Ill take on first. I write down a list of tasks, usually the hardest is what I begin with. Once I finish a task I cross it out, something about seeing that I finished the task makes me feel good and ready to move on to the next one. This way you can also see how much progress you actually make in a day.

What tips would you give to improve productivity?

Make a list of everything you need to do, cross it out when finished; try to take on the hardest task first. When you accomplish your toughest task early in the day, it sets the tone for the rest of the day, sort of creates momentum you know?

I’m a big believer that you must push yourself ALWAYS in everything you take on, to be better or do better. But sometimes the best thing to do is to totally disconnect, focus on another task or just take a break. When im creatively stuck on a project the best thing is to look at design blogs, or fashion blogs, interior design, look at a magazine or just something totally different can help you get inspired and be more productive.

Close your Facebook tab haha. I like to have time for everything and sometimes I get lost in my social media pages so I like to have specific times even to check my Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, youtube vlogs, (I think you get the point). Usually I check them early in the morning and a quick peek after lunch and before I go to bed.

You're better than your colleagues to:

Get things in order. Also I'm a perfectionist in everything that I do and I love to focus on details, details, details! I make sure that everything I send to a client is the best it can be, sometimes it takes more time from my schedule but in the long run it pays off.

Also while I work sometimes I have my dog on my legs and can still be very productive.

What is the best advice anyone has given you?

My dad has said for as long as I can remember that I can never give up no matter what. Up until the last moment I have to give it my all. This just makes me push myself to do my absolute best, because if I don’t push myself to do better who will?

What is your best tip for saving time?

Planning ahead, I believe that just planning your day in the morning takes time, or clearing your desk, finding papers or emails that you will need, so when I finish my day I like to plan ahead, get my things ready, make my to do list for the next day.

By midmorning you can be ahead of most people, who take the first half hour of the day cleaning their desk, making lists, finding necessary paperwork and the list goes on.

What is your routine start and end of the day ?

I wake up, take a shower, prepare my breakfast and when I have time I like to read a chapter of a book that can inspire or motivate my day, currently Im reading the Success Principles by Jack Canfield (I love it because it has really brief chapters filled with the GREATEST ADVICE to accomplish what you want in your life). I try to answer some emails after breakfast and get to work. First thing I do is look at my to-do list for the day, and get to work. During the day I divide my time depending on the number of projects I have to work on. The upside to working for myself is that I can organize my schedule as I please but sometimes I can’t separate myself from the computer and have dinner in my office and just keep on working.

When I finish work at a good time I work some more, on personal projects that I have on the side. My personal projects is what I do to disconnect myself from what I usually do during the day, I just find it very healthy for me. It becomes a time where I can do anything I want without a creative brief. To give you an idea sometimes I like to do some illustration, I have a personal blog that I am working on, a side business that I want to get going next year. I like to take this time to help me relax and take my mind off the office work.

I guess during the week Im a workaholic & on the weekends I love to just rest, read, get out as much as possible and just disconnect from work.
