I’m Tomáš Müller, digital artist and photographer who absolutely loves his job.
Your current job :
I’ve started freelancing 12 years ago and im still doing it.
Im constantly swichting between different kinds of projects for advertising,
movie industry, and my personal projects to keep myself interested and force myself
to develop and grow creatively.
In which city are you located?
Prague in Czech republic.
A word to define what kind of worker you are :
I’m very obsessed with details, experimenting and developing unique visual approaches
which helps me to maintain my personal touch and style.
What tools are essential to your life (app, software, etc..)
I’m using mainly Photoshop and combo of 3Ds MAX and V-ray render, for photography
my main tool for photography is Pentax 645Z.
What does your office space look like?
Very small and quiet. I’m a solitary guy. When I’m working, I need a quiet space
to be alone with my thoughts and ideas.
What kind of music do you listen when you are working ?
I listening to everything that inspires me which is actually a very broad selection of styles
from Electro to Steve Reich.
Do you have a way to organize your day to maximize your work ?
Absolutely not 🙂 My strength lies in organized chaos.
What tips would you give to improve productivity ?
Try different approaches and I experiment a lot to find better or faster ways
how to do particular tasks. Don’t care too much about what other people say
about your work, most important is to know what do you want to do and
focus on it ’till it is done. Take challenges and don’t be afraid to step
out from your comfort zone to try or learn something completely new.
You’re better than your colleagues to :
I don’t compare myself to others too much. Each artist does his own thing and most important
aspect of every creative work is to be done with love. Otherwise there is no
point of doing it in the first place.
What is the best advice anyone has given you ?
Never take anything for granted and work hard, everything you do goes back full circle.
My grandfather told me this many times during my life and I still believe it.
What is your best tip for saving time ?
Lear how to use procrastination as your advantage, when you feel the need to turn away from
work for a moment, and try to focus on something that can inspire you.
What is your routine start and end of the day ?
Coffee 🙂
Aside from your computer and your phone, what gadget can you not you go without?
my iPod, as i’ve said before music is very important to me.
