On Tuesday June 27th BMO Financial Group announced a $100,000 gift for the Ottawa Art Gallery’s (OAG) Art Now – L’art ici Capital Campaign. The Gallery revealed that this significant contribution will be directed towards the creation of the BMO Sky Lounge and its In Conversation Series in the expanded OAG.
The BMO Sky Lounge will be located on the second floor of the new OAG which will host many of the OAG’s changing exhibitions, public programs and special events including the In Conversation Series. The BMO Sky Lounge will be a relaxing social area, adjacent to the OAG multi-purpose room, offering free Wi-Fi and at times a mobile bar.
The In Conversation Series is a popular program which brings OAG exhibition artists, art critics and curators together for in-depth conversations about art, allowing the public to gain a deeper appreciation of the artists’ ideas and processes. Past In Conversation events featured renowned art critic and founding editor of Winnipeg’s Border Crossings magazine Robert Enright, Ottawa Painter Jinny Yu, and Los Angeles Artist Monique Mouton.
“BMO strives to support projects and organizations that transform their communities in a positive way. The new Ottawa Art Gallery will do just that for those living in the Nation’s Capital by offering a space to learn, explore and celebrate the arts. The new OAG facilities, growing five times in size, will give Ottawa access to art collections, contemporary exhibitions, workshop and lecture spaces like never before; BMO is delighted to be a community partner on such a momentous project.”
– Victor Pellegrino, Senior Vice President, Eastern Ontario Division, BMO Bank of Montreal
