Ricardo Cavolo for The Bally Collective curated x Swizz Beatz

Bally’s commitment to artistic collaboration continues this season as the brand joins forces with Grammy Award-winning music producer and global entrepreneur, Swizz Beatz, on a collection of accessories and ready to wear, designed by Spanish artist Ricardo Cavolo.

The collaboration came about organically with Swizz first reaching out to Bally last year through an Instagram post featuring a pair of Bally Ascona sneakers and the statement ‘Bally is back!’

Swizz met Spanish artist Ricardo Cavolo through ‘No Commission’, a roving experiential platform launched in partnership with Bacardi to forge a direct link between the visual and musical arts and art patronage. ‘No Commission’, curated by Swizz and underwritten by Bacardi, is designed specifically to support artists in different cities around the world.

Cavolo’s eclectic style is based on the relationship between folk art, traditional and modern tattoo culture and European religious imagery. He often develops characters, telling stories through the illustration of their experiences across time, using symmetry and symbolism to connect with a modern audience.

Talking about the inspiration behind his prints for Bally, Cavolo explains he and Swizz wanted to achieve with this project, the feeling of ‘total freedom’ in the pursuit of ‘creation with no borders.’ His prints represent his interpretation of freeing the spirit animal inside, resulting in a truly vivid collection of otherworldly drawings.

Cavolo’s prints will launch as part of the ‘Bally Collective, curated by Swizz Beatz’, continuing the brand’s commitment to creating a platform to playfully empower artistic license across emerging and established talent. ‘Bally is an iconic brand that represented the music culture very early, and the quality, in my opinion, has always been number one’, says Swizz Beatz. ‘It’s amazing to work with a forward-thinking CEO like Frédéric (De Narp) to push the envelope on creativity and fashion. I’m also excited about them using their doors worldwide as an avenue for Dean Collection artists to display and sell their work.’

The exclusive collection will launch globally in October 2017.
