As more and more states legalize marijuana for recreational use, people are becoming open to the idea of using these products. Cannabidiol (CBD) has been rumored to have several natural health benefits. Plus, with limited amounts of Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), individuals won’t get that “high” effect because CBD has no psychoactive properties.
There are several CBD brands out there made for certain conditions and meant to be taken in certain ways. That’s why it’s important to read product reviews to ensure the brand you’re interested in is best for what you need it to do. For example, Select CBD offers products in many forms and strengths. Reading a Select CBD review will help you determine which strength you should go with. The following are a few things CBD products can help with.
Pain relief
Marijuana has been used to treat pain for a very long time. In fact, one study suggests that it has been used to treat pain from as early as 2900 BC. Cannabidiol (CBD) specifically has been used to treat nerve pain and inflammation more recently.
A combination of CBD and THC has been proven to help the pain in conditions like multiple sclerosis (MS) and rheumatoid arthritis. This seemed evident by a 2015 study on 30 MS patients using an oral spray called Sativex (this spray contained THC and CBD) when the patients experienced improvements in walking, pain, and muscle spasms. Another study done on this spray in patients with rheumatoid arthritis found similar results when the 58 people in the study had less pain during movement and better sleep.
Can alleviate anxiety and depression
According to the Anxiety and Depression Association of America, anxiety disorders affect 18.1 percent of the population every year, and nearly one half of those diagnosed with depression also end up being diagnosed with an anxiety disorder. This is probably the biggest ailment that people are hesitant to get on prescription drugs for, as the side effects of those drugs tend to be daunting.
CBD has been shown to provide natural relief for anxiety disorders. In a group of 24 people with social anxiety, half were given a placebo and the other half were given 600 MG of CBD before public speaking. The CBD group displayed significantly less anxiety and less impairment in their speech compared to the placebo group. There is also some evidence displaying the possible benefits of CBD in depression.
May help with neurological disorders
There has been evidence to support CBD being beneficial in treating neurological disorders such as epilepsy, Parkinson’s, and even Alzheimer’s. CBD has been shown to help with both the symptoms and the degeneration seen in these diseases.
In children with Dravet syndrome (an epilepsy disorder), CBD oil drastically reduced seizure activity. In Parkinson’s disease, CBD oil had been linked to improving sleep and quality of life. In Alzheimer’s patients, a study on mice even suggests that CBD can prevent neurodegeneration.
Could improve heart health
There has been evidence that suggests CBD can be good for heart health as it helps control blood pressure. Research has found that lower blood pressure levels were presented in men who were asked to perform stress tests under CBD compared to the control group who had not taken any. It is suspected that the stress-relieving properties of CBD are what lowers blood pressure.
Cancer prevention?
Many people have heard of individuals with cancer using marijuana in various forms to treat the pain and nausea associated with the disease and chemotherapy treatments, but there’s some evidence that points to CBD actually being cancer-preventing. One “test-tube” study found that CBD caused cell death in breast cancer cells, which has given hope to the fact that CBD can help prevent cancer. Of course, these studies are still in their infant stages, and more testing is required.
CBD is a great natural resource that is growing in popularity. It has been shown to treat many cases and conditions. If you’re considering CBD, be sure to read expert reviews on the many products and brands currently available. By doing so, you’ll increase your chances of seeing the results you desire.
