For Better or Not: Telltale Signs that Your Partner is Cheating

For Better or Not: Telltale Signs that Your Partner is Cheating

Published by Programme B

To say that relationships are difficult is an understatement. Placing your full trust in your partner may not always come naturally, especially if they are exhibiting signs or behaviors that have you concerned. People cheat in relationships, it’s a painful fact. In fact, roughly sixteen percent of individuals will cheat on their partner over the course of their relationship.

While there are ways to catch cheaters, it is imperative to first ascertain that they are, in fact, cheating. Luckily, there are ways to find out. If you’re worried that your partner may be unfaithful to your relationship, be on the lookout for the following telltale signs.

They are uncharacteristically secretive with their phones

When your partner gets defensive or outright avoids questions about where they’ve been and who they’ve been with, chances are, they are hiding something. And often, that “something” is someone else. If they also avoid eye contact during conversations about their whereabouts, then could be another sign. If you suspect infidelity or want to gather more concrete evidence, hiring a private investigator might be a sensible step.

They avoid questions about their whereabouts

When your partner gets defensive or outright avoids questions about where they’ve been and who they’ve been with, chances are, they are hiding something. And often, that “something” is someone else. If they also avoid eye contact during conversations about their whereabouts, then could be another sign.

They suddenly start caring about their appearance

There’s nothing inherently wrong in your partner wanting to look better. In a lot of cases, it’s a good thing. But when this interest in appearance is sudden and out of the ordinary, their new look and self-care rituals might no longer be for you. Especially if they keep dressing up to go out without you, this might be a cause for alarm.

Their friends act strange around you

If a partner starts cheating, their friends often get to know about the matter long before you do. This creates an air of tension and discomfort on their part. They will try to compensate by being extra nice or avoiding you. This behavior is usually easy to spot, and can be a simple way to set the record straight about infidelity.

They have become secretive about their finances                                                                 When your partner starts hiding their credit card statements or gives vague answers when you ask about unusual spending activities, then that’s a major warning sign. This may not automatically mean that they’re cheating on you. It could mean they may have developed a bad habit or addiction. No matter the reason, you should be concerned, be it for your partner’s problem or for the overall health of your relationship.

It’s important to keep in mind that while these signs may be indicative of infidelity, they can also be caused by other factors such as stress, a midlife crisis, or other problems they may be currently facing. It’s important to find hard-facts to support your position and to be entirely sure before you accuse your partner of anything. If your partner happens to be faithful to you and you accuse them otherwise, this can still have a detrimental effect on the health of your relationship.

Even though it can be heartbreaking, discovering your partner is cheating doesn’t have to be the end of your coupling. You can choose to talk things out as a couple or enlist the help of a professional marriage counselor. Whatever decision you make and however you choose to move forward, it is always better to know the facts and make a conscious decision from there.
