Gordon Ramsay: Uncharted – a Major Draw for Disney Plus

Gordon Ramsay: Uncharted – a Major Draw for Disney Plus

Published by Programme B

Disney+ has started waging war on the likes of Netflix and Amazon as it strives to be the number one streaming platform on the market. It may be a newcomer to the television subscription game, but the Walt Disney Company’s offering is making all the right moves. The comprehensive documentary section will attract a lot of adults, with Gordon Ramsay: Uncharted among the standout choices there. This is Ramsay at his realist, as he travels the world encountering an eclectic mix of foods and cooking styles along the way.

About the Series

Gordon Ramsay: Uncharted premiered in 2019 on the National Geographic. As the Walt Disney Company has a 73 percent share in the channel, it means that the content is also available to watch on Disney+ a day after it airs on the original network. There have been three seasons to date, consisting of six, seven, and eight episodes respectively.

The premise of the series is that Ramsay travels to various countries in search of their lesser-known culinary delights. He meets up with local chefs who take him on adventures to find ingredients, before learning how to make the dishes. A lot of the cooking occurs out in the open, away from the traditional settings that Ramsay is used to. This is exciting for viewers, as the legendary chef is removed from his comfort zone.

One of the Most Famous Faces in the Business

Ramsay is probably the most famous chef on the planet, thanks to his forays into reality television in the United States. The 54-year-old is best known for Hell’s Kitchen, of which there have been 305 episodes since 2005. Each season consistently attracts more than 3.5 million viewers, with the peak ratings of 10 million occurring during season 4. It’s not just the series itself that has made Ramsay one of the most recognisable figures in the industry, though. There have also been a number of games created based on the cooking competition.

In 2008, Hell’s Kitchen: The Game was released for the Wii and various other devices. The Ubisoft title features an AI version of Ramsay and makes players feel as if they have entered the show as a contestant. Another exciting offering is the Hell’s Kitchen slot, which is one of the games listed at VegasSlotsOnline. The title from NetEnt features music and symbols pertaining to the TV show, and this game also features Ramsay’s famous face. This is a major selling point of the reel spinning offering, which is why it’s one of the most popular online casino games around at the moment.

It’s this notoriety that led Disney+ to add Ramsay’s latest adventure series to its library. For some viewers, seeing the chef away from his usual surroundings is a refreshing change and one that needs to be experienced. With Gordon Ramsay: Uncharted now enjoying a vast number of viewers, there is a chance that this series could lead to spinoff games in the future as well.

Potential For Future Seasons

Ramsay may be best-known for his reality cooking competitions, but many of his fans will have enjoyed his numerous adventure series more. Prior to Uncharted, the celebrity chef starred in a similar exploration offering, Gordon’s Great Escape, which aired in 2010 on Channel 4 in the UK. It followed Ramsay as he toured India and then Southeast Asia, learning the famous cuisines from the locals. This was well-received and lauded for showing a different side to the chef.

With Uncharted, there is certainly the potential for it to run for a number of seasons. Ramsay has already visited 15 countries in the series, but there are plenty more that he has yet to discover. It wouldn’t be surprising to see him revisit some of the locations from his Great Escape as well, as it was clear that he thoroughly enjoyed learning about the delicacies in these places.

Disney+ has a lot going for it already with its wide array of Marvel and Star Wars-based content. However, it’s gems like Gordon Ramsay: Uncharted that may help to set it apart from other streaming services. This series has the potential to run for a while, and it will attract new and old fans of Ramsay alike.
