Web Design Elements That Ensure A Good User Experience

Web Design Elements That Ensure A Good User Experience

Published by Leonardo Calcagno

Generally speaking, a site that is based on extensive research into your users, or even your potential users is the key to good usability. If you can make a good first impression then this will kickstart a good user experience, helping you to gain credibility while building trust with them. Great esthetics provide this, but if your site is slow-loading then you may find that you undo all of the effort you have put in to get people’s interest and ultimately, their custom.

Fast Page Speed

Imagine for a second, two sites that sell the same product. Both of them may look great, but one of them has a very long queue at the checkout. The other has a barrage of staff so you can pay without having to wait. Which one are you going to visit?  This example shows how important a fast website is. Make sure that you never compromise on your site’s speed when it comes to web design. Knowing and monitoring your site for both desktop and mobile use is the key to making sure that you are not losing out on potential customers. Fast websites are a must, as they ensure that people can navigate quickly and find whatever it is they need.

Simple Navigation

Simple navigation is also so important. Use site navigation that people are familiar with if you can.  Some may argue that you need to stand out, and playing around with the navigation bar is a good way for you to do this, to an extent. With that in mind though, straightforward and easy-to-use navigation will help people to find what they need with ease.

User-Specific Content

Understanding the different customers you have, along with their unique requirements is the key to ensuring that you produce and publish content that they want. When a user arrives on your site looking for answers or solutions, your content should give them the answer. Doing this well will allow you to keep building on the relationship you have and it will also encourage them to take further action as they move down into the sales funnel. Your users can access their content in different ways, so you have to make sure that you are continually adapting your site while ensuring mobile responsiveness.

Align your Company Goals

Finally, you need to align your user experience with your business objectives if you can. What actions do users need to take so that they can help you meet your goals? Your site should take any customers on a seamless journey that helps them, and you. If you don’t know what your company goals are then this is a major mistake. You may also find that you end up struggling to get the result you want overall too, as you won’t know what metrics to track, and where your site needs work. By taking note of your user experience and how this could be impacted by the choices you have made with your site design, you can benefit both your site and your conversion rate.
