Published by Leonardo Calcagno

Who are you?

I am Haykaz Khroyan, Graphics and User Interface designer.

Your current job

I am a graphic designer in “MAROG Creative”, one of the leading design studios in Yerevan. Also, I work as a freelance UI/UX designer.

In which city are you located?

Yerevan, Armenia.

A word to define what kind of worker you are?

Perfectionist: details are vital. They become tremendously important when you want to understand the whole picture. whatever one does, it should be done thoroughly, because only the small details help to appreciate the value of the whole work.

What tools are essential to your life (app, software, etc..)

Adobe Creative Suite, Sketch App, Flinto, Principle. Recently started digging into programming and now Swift 4 and IOS11 software became an essential part of my job. And also paper, tones of paper.

What does your office space look like?

Trying to keep a minimalist workspace. It helps to get rid of unnecessary things and concentrate on the fundamental elements.

What kind of music do you listen to when you are working?

I am not a “mood” person when it comes to music. Soft electronic and rock music is an integral part of my working process. Sometimes I catch myself on thinking that Radiohead, Arctic Monkeys, and Daft Punk spent their time in front of my computer as an equal.

Do you have a way to organize your day to maximize your work?

It is a little bit difficult to organize your day when you work in a creative industry. Even if I try to schedule my workday, “3 A.M. idea”-s come from time to time and make me plan my worknight as well.

What tips would you give to improve productivity?

Keeping in mind the final result of your work will always motivate you to keep going. And, of course, a good pair of headphones.

You’re better than your colleagues to:

I am better than them in nothing, that’s why we are colleagues.

What is the best advice anyone has given you?

Mama told me, you should start as you mean to go wrong, or else you’re never gonna get it right. [Alex Turner, Miles Kane]

What is your best tip for saving time?

Sleep less.

What is your routine start and end of the day?

Scrolling Behance, Pinterest, and Dribbble are the start and the end of my day. Inspiration is one of the keys to success. Between the work hours, one or two YouTube videos and a football match on PS4 will give you a good rest.

Aside from your computer and your phone, what gadget can you not you go without?

IPad for prototyping apps in real life, sketchbook, pencils and, of course, PlayStation 4 console.
