Who are you :
My name is Juan Cavia . I´m a freelance Art Director. I usually work as an AD for movies & commercials. In my spare time I also work as an illustrator and comic-book artist.

What tools are essential to your life (app, software, etc..)
My hands, papers, pencils and of course Photoshop.

What does your office space look like?
Now, for the first time in my life, I have my own studio, in my house, and I love it because it´s my personal place… it´s a kind of refuge.

What kind of music do you listen when you are working ?
It depends, I´ve been listening to classical music ever since I was a child, this kind of music helps me to focus and concentrate, I really love all the levels it has with its different shades and depths . On the other hand I also love The Beatles and Radiohead.

Do you have a way to organize your day to maximize your work ?
Due to my work as a freelancer each day is really different for me. It depends if I have to deal with a movie project , a commercial, a single illustration or a whole comic-book. The thing is when everything is happening at the same time… in that case it´s essential for me to have a schedule with all the priorities in order.

What tips would you give to improve productivity ?
First at all I would say ” understand what you are talking “, I mean, nowadays all the information is given to you, you just have to look thoroughly and you will find all you need to clearly understand what you are dealing with. Then, try to be neat, organize your designs and references so that anyone who looks at them can clearly understand them, this will be really helpful not only for you but also for your colleagues .

You’re better than your colleagues to :
Hey, I´m not better than anybody, I´ll leave that judgement to the audience or the employer… I´ll only say that I really love my work, that´s why each and every project is so important to me.

What is the best advice anyone has given you ?
hum… many, but, nowadays I like : ” Learn from yesterday, live for today, hope for tomorrow” and of course “inspiration exists, but has to find you working “.

What is your best tip for saving time ?
find the time to meditate, and do useful things for others… but don´t forget the movies =)

What is your routine start and end of the day ?
It really depends on which project I am on.

Aside from your computer and your phone, what gadget can you not you go ?
