Who are you :
my mane is David Sossella, I’m 40, I live in Italy, I’m an illustrator.
Your current job :
I’m partner of a communication agency (manifactory.com), and co-founder of Gusto Robusto (gustorobusto.com) an artistic community that realizes and products art prints made with vector art.
In which city are you located?
I’m located in a small and beautiful town named Badoere (in its outstanding square, that is rounded and not squared 🙂 – look the photo attached). Badoere is outside Treviso, a city very close to Venice, Italy.
A word to define what kind of worker you are :
meticulous.
What tools are essential to your life (app, software, etc..)
My eyes, my imagination and Adobe Illustrator.
What does your office space look like?
Is a very pleasant place, rich of wood, warm and quiet.
What kind of music do you listen when you are working ?
Usually I don’t listen music, I prefer podcasts or documentaries. I’m curious and I like to learn new things.
Do you have a way to organize your day to maximize your work ?
Creative work in the morning (when I’m fresh) and production in the afternoon.
What tips would you give to improve productivity ?
In my case, I took a very good assistant and quit smoking. In general, I think that everyone should find his method based on own disposition.
You’re better than your colleagues to :
I don’t feel to be better then others, but if I have to look at some particular skills, I think is to add details that make my illustrations more interesting. I love to look at the reality and see some special details that give life to the artwork. I’m not a minimal illustrator 🙂
What is the best advice anyone has given you ?
don’t change yourself to follow the market.
What is your best tip for saving time ?
In a creative job I don’t think is so important to save time. Sometimes you have to apparently waste time in order to focus your inspiration.
What is your routine start and end of the day ?
Open and close the balconies of the office. Seriously, they give me the sensation of a start and of an end of my working day. Anyway, telling the truth, sometimes I think to my work even before or after the working day, because it is also a passion for me.
Aside from your computer and your phone, what gadget can you not you go without?
My pencil. I love to sketch, and I do it only with pencil or pen (not with computer).
