FeBREWary Week 2: Motueka Pilsner on tap

FeBREWary Week 2: Motueka Pilsner on tap

Published by BARONMAG

Beau’s Brewing Co. is releasing the second of five brand-new beers for feBREWary, its annual mid-winter craft beer celebration. The beer is Motueka Pilsner, a 5.3% beer made exclusively with certified organic Motueka variety hops, which light up this classic European beer style with their tropical, citrusy brightness. Beau’s Motueka Pilsner will be served on tap and sold by the bottle this week at the 300+ restaurants, pubs and retailers participating in FeBREWary 2019.

Motueka is a made-in-New-Zealand hop variety, created by cross-breeding NZ hops with Saaz, the go-to hop for Czech-style pilsner. The recipe used only these hops, added at different points during the brewing to show off their versatility and unique character.

Motueka Pilsner pours a slightly hazy deep gold, with a white foam. The aroma offers bright citrus notes of Meyer lemon and hints of baking spice. The flavour brings a brisk balance of soft malt and zippy hops. The finish is crisp and clean. Beau’s Brewmaster Matthew O’Hara suggests serving it quite cold (2-5 C) and pairing it with milder or citrusy fare such as lemon-pepper cod, chevre, or lemon meringue pie.

Motueka Pilsner will be available this week in Ontario, Québec, and Manitoba at Beau’s 300+ feBREWary partners – to see a full list, visit beaus.ca/feBREWary. It is also available by the bottle beginning Feb. 7 at the Beau’s brewery in Vankleek Hill, while quantities last. Beau’s month-long feBREWary celebrations continue next week with the release of Dry Irish Stout, a toasty black ale with interwoven coffee and chocolate flavors.
