Published by Leonardo Calcagno

Who are you :
Adam Dunt, a Graphic Designer – Sometimes Illustrator.

Your current job :
Design Manager / Graphic Designer

In which city are you located?
Melbourne, Australia

A word to define what kind of worker you are :

What tools are essential to your life (app, software, etc..)
Adobe Creative Suite – Illustrator / InDesign / Photoshop for my design work. For my personal Illustration work Photoshop is key and my Wacom Intuos 5.

What does your office space look like?
At work it can really depend on the time of day and how busy I am, but rarely uncluttered. When doing my Illustrations it is usually wherever I can set my laptop up, but usually a dark space.

What kind of music do you listen when you are working ?
When Illustrating I don’t really listen to music, I like to put on a movie or TV series for background noise.

Do you have a way to organize your day to maximize your work ?
It is usually about assessing priorities, most of the time in my head, but if there are too many things to do it is always good to do a list.

What tips would you give to improve productivity ?
Coffee (double shot if possible), focus, avoid distractions.

You’re better than your colleagues to :
Work fast, solve problems, show creativity.

What is the best advice anyone has given you ?
Switch your mind off from work when you go home.

What is your best tip for saving time ?
With my design work it is about getting as much information as you can at the start, this minimises things down the road. With my drawings I would love to save time, but everything takes longer than I think it will.

What is your routine start and end of the day ?
I try to get in early so there are less distractions, make a coffee and check my emails. At the end of the day I usually have a long drive home, I use this time to switch off from work.

Aside from your computer and your phone, what gadget can you not you go ?
A sketchbook beside my bed, some of my best drawing ideas have come just as I am falling to sleep. If I don’t write them down or do a quick sketch I can’t get to sleep.
