Office tale of Endri Hoxha, architect + interior designer + furniture maker

Published by Leonardo Calcagno

Who are you :
Endri Hoxha

Your current job :
Architect, interior designer & furniture maker

In which city are you located?
I am currently located in Toronto, Canada

A word to define what kind of worker you are :
Hardworking and sometimes hardly working (motorcycles are to be blamed)

What tools are essential to your life (app, software, etc..)
Moleskine Sketchbook Hardcover Black is always on me. The usual stuff is then secondary, like Photoshop, AutoCAD, 3Ds Max

What does your office space look like?
My office space usually resembles a chair in a coffee shop. Then a computer in my office and then a wood shop to finalize a prototype. The office space is never fixed but always evolving.

What kind of music do you listen when you are working ?
I listen to different genres dependent on the mood of course. But mainly Citizen Cope, Ray La Montagne, Lana Del Rey, James Blake

Do you have a way to organize your day to maximize your work ?
I don’t tend to think of my day as always trying to maximize efficiency because there are so many unknowns. Instead I try to take it one day at a time and be the best at it. The end result will then follow your hard work.

What tips would you give to improve productivity ?
Drink lots of Coffee

You’re better than your colleagues to :
Handle multiple products and projects at once and still get to ride thousands of KM’s in my motorcycle

What is the best advice anyone has given you ?
In the design business? “You are not paid to Draw but to Create”

What is your best tip for saving time ?
Put the cellphone and iPad aside. Turn the TV off. Maybe listen to some music but definitely take all distractions away

What is your routine start and end of the day ?
It often varies, but a day is dependent on client needs and the current project. If I am working on a product that I am trying to develop then my day is dedicated mostly on creatively approaching all the channels; sketching, model mock-ups, research, 3D modelling and building. If I am working on a project that involves a client then my day means site visits, meetings with the client themselves, ongoing problem solving and some little designing.

Aside from your computer and your phone, what gadget can you not you go without?
My USB. It is always in my pocket and has all the content I need in case of an emergency
