Office tale of Dave Watson, creative director of design, North America | TAXI

Published by Leonardo Calcagno

Who are you :
Dave Watson

Your current job :
Creative Director of Design, North America | TAXI

In which city are you located?
Toronto

A word to define what kind of worker you are :
Passionate

What tools are essential to your life (app, software, etc..)
Lately I have become obsessed with Behance. It is a great tool to remind me of how high the creativity bar is (or can be). Great work is being done all over the world and I feel privileged to have access to it with a few clicks.

What kind of music do you listen when you are working ?
Classic Rock is my one true love but I also really enjoy Blues, Bluegrass, or whatever radioparadise.com is playing

Do you have a way to organize your day to maximize your work ?
Sadly my day is defined by my calendar. I try and ensure that I am only at meetings that are essential as many of them are a waste of time.

What tips would you give to improve productivity:
Invest in a fast computer. Time is money and there is no excuse for “the spinning beach ball of death”

You’re better than your colleagues at :
Very little I surround myself with smart talented people that inspire me on a daily basis. True story.

What is the best advice anyone has given you ?
Don’t judge a man by his mistake, judge him on his recovery.

What is your best tip for saving time ?
Answer emails twice a day if possible. Once in the morning…once before you leave and leave the rest for getting work done.

What is your routine start and end of the day ?
A good cup of coffee and Behance to start my day and going to the gym (when possible) to finish it.

Aside from your computer and your phone, what gadget can you not you go without?
My electronic drum kit. While I don’t practice as much as I should, It ALWAYS makes me feel better when I do.
