Published by Leonardo Calcagno

Who are you :
My name is Selva and I am a designer.

Your current job :
I’m currently working on branding and running my own venture. Selva Sonali is a fresh start-up in Montréal who design fashion and home accessories by incorporating sophisticated technology.

In which city are you located?
Montréal.

A word to define what kind of worker you are :
Different.

What tools are essential to your life (app, software, etc..)
Adobe CS5 (and onwards), GitHub, Sublime, Text Editor & Google

What does your office space look like?
Nothing interesting. My work space is quite plain, I only get, keep and have what I need. I like empty spaces, they allow my mind to breathe and my thinking process does not become cluttered with unnecessary visual information.

What kind of music do you listen when you are working ?
When it comes to music and working – I prefer pin-drop silence or music really loud with hard and fast beats. Depends on my mood.

Do you have a way to organize your day to maximize your work ?
Yes, I plan and set myself goals a year or two in advance. Having an agenda is essential when there is so much to do in very little time!

What tips would you give to improve productivity ?
It’s all in the mind. If you want results you must be productive or else you’ll fall behind. So the question you should be asking yourself is “Do I want fast results by being productive or would I be okay if I’m a little behind?”

You’re better than your colleagues to :
Eating healthy. I’m not a health nut but I think it’s important to take care of yourself and look presentable.

What is the best advice anyone has given you ?
“The world and the people in it are not one or the other. We are a mix of all the colors and emotions in between and the path to empowerment and happiness is to be able to see all those hues of color.”

What is your best tip for saving time ?
Time is so precious once it’s gone, you’ll never have it back. So if you ever come across something that is just nonsense, figure out a way to get rid of it.

What is your routine start and end of the day ?
I don’t really have a “set” routine. I just go with the flow once I know what my goals are and I adapt my routine accordingly.

Aside from your computer and your phone, what gadget can you not you go without?
Lipstick.
