The National Arts Centre is pleased to host a wonderful retrospective exhibition by cocurators Marco Polo and Colin Ripley from Ryerson University on the public buildings that were built to mark Canada’s 100th Anniversary in 1967.
Past accomplishments will merge with future endeavors as the NAC looks forward to its 2017 architectural rejuvenation project. Please join us for a public lecture at 11:00 a.m. on July 1st with the exhibitions cocurators, joined by Donald Schmitt, principal architect of the NAC’s rejuvenation project, and Heritage architect Barry Padolsky.
The discussion will be moderated by the NAC’s Rosemary Thompson. After the lecture the public will be invited to tour the exhibition in the lobby of the NAC outside of Southam Hall. The exhibition features architectural projects including the National Arts Centre and the Confederation Centre for the Arts in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, along with many other buildings from across Canada.
The exhibition catalogue, Architecture and National Identity: The Centennial Projects 50 Years On, will be available for purchase.
