Shane Griffin

Creative Director @ Method Studios

Manhattan, NYC

Efficient

What tools are essential to your life (app, software, etc..)
3dsMax, Nuke, Adobe suite, Vscocam, Spotify, Pen, Paper.

What does your office space look like?
We have a great space at Method, it’s 3 floors of a modern loft building with a near uninterrupted panoramic view of Manhattan from the roof deck. It’s very tasty!

Do you have a way to organize your day to maximize your work ?
Yes, I try to do all the email and admin related things in the morning, and keep all the designing & writing for the afternoon. Most of the time that never works, but trying is what counts! I’m most productive under pressure, somehow.

What tips would you give to improve productivity ?
It’s easy to lose hours and hours when your experimenting with looks and techniques,
the most valuable asset regarding time is to know when to move on. Balancing a social life is very important too, it’s the key to keeping your creative spark alive. Don’t burn the candle at both ends.

You’re better than your colleagues to :
Improvise in meetings, ha ha!

What is the best advice anyone has given you ?
No one says ‘No’ to a good idea

What is your best tip for saving time ?
Create your own presets!!!!

What is your routine start and end of the day ?
My commute to work is about 40 minutes walk, I try to take the quietest streets cross-town Mahattan, avoidin as much human traffic as possible.
From there it’s a coffee and a quick run through any unanswered emails from the previous day / night. I’m usually solidally booked in meetings or on the box with a pitch
for the entire day, it could be design frames, a VFX treatment, a live action commercial, or a pre-production meeting.

Aside from your computer and your phone, what gadget can you not you go without?
My Nutribullet! Killin’ the smoothie game at home.
