Published by Leonardo Calcagno

Who are you :
Loulou & Tummie (or Laurens & Chantal)

Your current job :
Illustrators/ Animators/ Woodworker/ Seamstress

In which city are you located?
Tilburg in the Netherlands.

A word to define what kind of worker you are :

What tools are essential to your life (app, software, etc..)
Adobe Illustrator, Pencils, Sewing machine, Woodworking tools and tea.

What does your office space look like?
Like a toy store.

What kind of music do you listen when you are working ?
We vary between extremities… we might play noisy freejazz one hour, a fragile singer songwriter the next, some eastern composers after lunch and end the day with a bit of black metal.

Do you have a way to organize your day to maximize your work ?
Not at all. We just try and get done what needs to be done during day time so we don’t have to work nights and weekends like we have done for years.

What tips would you give to improve productivity ?
Loulou says powernaps between 3 and 4.

You’re better than your colleagues to :
Loulou is better with lay-outs and Tummie picks the best color palettes.

What is the best advice anyone has given you ?
Do what you do best and stick to your own vision.

What is your best tip for saving time ?
Make sure the sketch works before finalizing.

What is your routine start and end of the day ?
Our toddler daughter Koko wakes us way too early. We try and sleep a bit more but the kid is getting all hyped up for the day to come so Tummie makes her breakfast. Loulou joins a bit later and we head to our studio between 10 and 11.
Tummie leaves office earlier to pick up Koko and prep dinner. Loulou returns home between 6 and 7. In the evening Loulou is woodworking in his shed. Tummie is behind the sewing machine designing clothes or plush dolls or felt creations by then. Or another common version is that we find ourselves lying on the couch watching series or getting lost on the internet.

Aside from your computer and your phone, what gadget can you not you go without?
Can’t think of anything, as longs as we can listen to music and draw we should be fine.
