EXPO CHICAGO, the International Exposition of Contemporary & Modern Art, announces first look for Dialogues taking place place during the fifth annual exposition, September 22–25. In addition, EXPO CHICAGO and presenting sponsor Northern Trust will host the second annual “Exchange by Northern Trust: An Interactive Conversation Around the Art of Collecting.” This preview of the 2016 program includes highlights for both discussion series, with full programming of more than 20 on-site panels at EXPO CHICAGO to be announced.

/Dialogues, presented in partnership with the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC), is a year-long series of panel discussions, conversations and provocative artistic discourse with leading artists, curators, designers and arts professionals on the current issues that engage them. Highlights on-site at EXPO CHICAGO will include an intimate conversation with celebrated Chicago artist Kerry James Marshall and noted author Sarah Thornton; featured panelist Director of the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam Beatrix Ruf; Curator for the Guggenheim UBS MAP Global Art Initiative Pablo Leon de la Barra; founder of the first global art advisory for contemporary African art Bomi Odufunade with independent curator and writer Simon Njami, among others; Jens Hoffman, Daria de Beauvais and the return of Hans Ulrich Obrist, in addition to various other noted panelists to be announced.

In addition, the return of “Exchange by Northern Trust: An Interactive Conversation Around the Art of Collecting,” will be presented to invited VIP guests in the Northern Trust Anchor Lounge. This series of private discussions, tailored exclusively for invited VIP guests, will provide insight and expertise on the art of collecting. The 2016 program will feature internationally renowned speakers including collector Sultan Sooud Al-Qassemi of the Barjeel Art Foundation in the United Arab Emirates in conversation with Manilow Senior Curator at the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago curator Omar Kholeif.

New to the 2016 program will be a featured symposium surrounding radical artists Art & Language. Three diverse panel discussions will be included in the day long series Friday, September 24 and will feature Michael Baldwin and Mel Ramsden discussing their singular perspective on half a century of art making. Located on the east end of Navy Pier’s Festival Hall, the /Dialogues stage offers programming open to all EXPO CHICAGO guests throughout each day of the fair, providing multiple opportunities to experience engaging discussions and exchange between some of the most respected art professionals working today.
