Who are you :
Bartosz Kosowski

Your current job :
freelance illustrator

In which city are you located?

Lodz, Poland

A word to define what kind of worker you are :
Deadline-dependent

What tools are essential to your life (app, software, etc..)
Photoshop, Wacom CintiQ, mechanical pencils, Copic Multiliners

What does your office space look like?
Clean and tidy (most of the time at least).

What kind of music do you listen when you are working ?
I listen to lots of different kinds of music and I could give you dozens of bands or musicians I listen to while working, but – to name just a few, I should probably mention Anthony and the Johnsons, Swans, Nick Cave, Sigur Ros, the Smiths, Radiohead, Destroyer, Dead Can Dance, Efterklang, Pearl Jam, Toro y Moi or Mac DeMarco.

Do you have a way to organize your day to maximize your work ?
Most of my days look pretty much the same. I wake up at about 9 o’clock, work out a bit, eat breakfast, have a shower and get down to work.

I start with answering the emails and then I start drawing. At about 12:30 I have lunch and then I get back to work till the evening when I eat dinner and then… I get back to work again.

Each evening I either go for a walk or ride a bike for a while. I usually go to bed between 1:30 and 2:30 in the morning.
Sometimes, to introduce a bit of variety in my life, I don’t take a shower in the morning bud do it after lunch 😉

What tips would you give to improve productivity ?
Don’t say yes to each request, don’t do meetings if you don’t have to, get things done without waiting for inspiration.

You’re better than your colleagues to :
You should probably ask them to get the answer to that one:)

What is the best advice anyone has given you ?
One of my art teachers told me not to be afraid of the blank space. I am not sure if it is the best advice someone has ever given me but it’s the only one that came to my mind 😉

What is your best tip for saving time?
Start working from home – you will not waste your time commuting (though it will probably mean that you’ll be working non-stop).

What is your routine start and end of the day ?
See one of the questions above

Aside from your computer and your phone, what gadget can you not you go without?

As I am a real gadget freak, I tend to buy things like wireless headphones, bluetooth speakers, gaming mice and keyboards, cool looking power banks, wi-fi card readers, tablets and all that.

I am also a huge fan of Japanese mechanical pencils so I buy those every time I have a chance. To be honest though, the only thing I couldn’t go without is the Wacom CintiQ 27QHD Touch which really speeds up my creative process.
