Published by Leonardo Calcagno

Who are you:

Hello! I´m Fernando Lardizábal and I’m an architect, began as a draftsman and moved to building design and architecture projects visualization.

Your current job:

I’m currently working as Design Architect at the Honduras Airports Concessionary Administration: that takes major part of my time. I’m also a freelancer architecture illustrator and designer for smaller projects of my own.

In which city are you located?

Im from Brazil but Im currently working and living in Tegucigalpa, Honduras capital city until I decide where to go take my Master in Architecture.

A word to define what kind of worker you are :

Workaholic

What tools are essential to your life (app, software, etc..)

Cinema 4D with Octane Render on my desktop are my favorite apps :)… and although there are some many cool tools to work with nowadays,… I still think my brain is my most important app! My workflow is still open for traditional mediums: Aquarela, pencils, pens, technical pens, ink and paper plays an important role when Im discovering new design ideas: I believe drawing with pencil and your hand have the power to engrave ideas into your head.

What does your office space look like?

The office in the airport environment is pretty much like a regular office space despite the window view of the airplanes going up and down… my office for freelance stuff looks pretty much like my… bedroom… 🙂

What kind of music do you listen when you are working?

Pink Floyd and Soundgarden always work for me… however I love to listen to radio online a lot, listen to stuff I dont’t know, or even use the http://radio.garden/live/ and use it to practice my french 🙂

Do you have a way to organize your day to maximize your work?

Sometimes I make small lists of all my works pending outside the airport duties, that helps me getting my mind free of letting some job skipping from the deadline.

What tips would you give to improve productivity?

Work out to clear my mind… and keeping my body health. Black tea gives me a real boost!!; and sleeping well,..

You’re better than your colleagues to :

Recognizing there is always room to improvements.

What is the best advice anyone has given you?

If you cant make your world better, at least dont make it worst.

What is your best tip for saving time?

Get to know yourself, identify your sticky points, learn from your mistakes,… there is where you usually learn how to save big time.

What is your routine start and end of the day?

I get up early, work out, Have a good breakfast and go to the airport. After finishing to deal with the planing team in the airport, by the end of the day, I take french classes and move back home to do my personal creations… sometimes I end soon and go to bed early,… sometimes I have to deal with deadlines, so I dont have time to rest much…

Aside from your computer and your phone, what gadget can you not you go without?

Do you really need anything more??? 😉

My small backpack to go around with my camera… u got to be ready for the right pictures. And some good reading book (as paper format) to read when I need to get away from the design stuff…
