Josef Ludvík Böhm, junior designer at Aufeer Design

Published by Leonardo Calcagno

Who are you:

My name is Josef Ludvík Böhm, I’m 27 years old and I’ve recently finished a master’s degree in industrial design at the University of West Bohemia (Pilsen – the city of the original pilsner beer, how cool is that?)

Your current job:

I’m currently working for Aufeer Design, being a junior designer. We focus on transportation design – railway and automotive.

In which city are you located?

I live and work in Mladá Boleslav, the Mecca of the automobile industry in Czech republic.

A word to define what kind of worker you are:

Flexible maybe.

What tools are essential to your life (app, software, etc..)

A laptop and a sketchbook. My setup is 2 monitors + large Wacom Intuos (not being a Cintiq fan). I use an old Photoshop, Alias, Rhino and Indesign most of the time.

What does your office space look like

It’s a traditional office space, not a large one. I have a big desk for myself, but it’s not a hugely inspirational environment. Our company is currently building a new studio for us, though. I’m really looking forward that, clay mills and everything!

What kind of music do you listen when you are working?

Anything from Nujabes, Tycho, Queen, chilli mixes and Beethoven. Also, radioparadise.com is really good.

Do you have a way to organize your day to maximize your work?

Coffee and music of course, otherwise I’m not well organized, more like an intuitive approach.

What tips would you give to improve productivity?

Coffee and music of course. Colleagues are great in a sense that they can motivate you if you’re not in the mood, plus it feels more silly to procrastinate in front of them.

You’re better than your colleagues to:

I’m better with my colleagues.

What is the best advice anyone has given you?

To live in the present moment.

What is your best tip for saving time?

Turn off youtube + Facebook, stop talking too much and enjoy the present moment (universal formula for happiness)

What is your routine start and end of the day ?

I start and end every day with a gratitude for it in the morning also some exercise.

Aside from your computer and your phone, what gadget can you not you go without?

For the office life, I probably could not be without my headphones (especially when our assistant phones too much) and Wacom pen tablet.
