Who are you:
I’m Chloe Insley – Galipeau, and soon to be Chloe Hurst!
Your current job:
I am the owner and designer of Contempo Mint which is dedicated to brand design, and I am also Creative Director at 2ii Inc. which is a luxury packaging design company.
In which city are you located?:
Ottawa, ON.
A word to define what kind of worker you are:
Two words… “Overly dedicated.” I do not want to stop working until my clients are satisfied with the work or if they at least have their questions answered. I can’t rest until then!
What tools are essential to your life (app, software, etc..)
Photoshop, Illustrator, and Lightroom.
What does your office space look like?
Grayscale open concept! What I love most about my workspace are my 10-foot ceilings and modern furniture… It really gets my mind moving with inspiration since I am known for my simplistic black and white designs.
What kind of music do you listen when you are working?
It’s a very odd mix that’s for sure. Depending on what kind of mood I am in I will listen to bogey club music, rock-and-roll, or alternative. However, my ultimate favorite band that I will always be in the mood for is Florence + The Machine.
Do you have a way to organize your day to maximize your work?
I always keep all of my work in one place and back it up onto my hard drive once a week. It is so much easier to access your files rather than searching everywhere to find them. Writing ideas down with a pen and notebook is also something that keeps me organized!
What tips would you give to improve productivity?
Eat and drink lots! I have become a master of working and eating at the same time, brain food is the best to stay focused.
You’re better than your colleagues to:
I like to crack a few jokes. We may be all business but you absolutely have to have some laughs!
What is the best advice anyone has given you?
“If there aren’t any job opportunities, hire yourself.”
What is your best tip for saving time?
Try to ignore social media for a bit.
What is your routine start and end of the day?
Wake up and makeup! Makeup is really therapeutic to me, it’s the only part of the day where I can have some alone time. At the end of the work day no matter how tired I am, I go to the gym. Sitting in a chair all day can actually be painful so getting an hour-and-a-half workout in makes me feel great.
Aside from your computer and your phone, what gadget can you not you go without?
You got me there.
