Christie’s has achieved a new auction record for Max Beckmann during its Impressionist and Modern Art Evening Sale in London on June 27, selling the German artist’s “Hölle der Vögel (Birds’ Hell)” 1937-38 to American art dealer Larry Gagosian for £36,005,000 / $45,834,365 / €40,865,675.
