Lilit Harutyunyan, graphic and web designer

Published by Leonardo Calcagno

Who are you:

My name is Lilit Harutyunyan, I’m a graphic and web designer.

Your current job:

Currently, I work as an art director in a creative agency ‘Deem Communications’, as well as I have my own brand called “Tarber”, which means “Different” in Armenian.

In which city are you located?

I live in Yerevan city, which turns to 2799 years old this week

A word to define what kind of worker you are:

Creatively organized. It’s hard to believe, but I manage to be very responsible and precise in the world of uncontrolled creativity.

What tools are essential to your life (app, software, etc..)

I use mostly Illustrator, Photoshop & InDesign in the Adobe package. Behance is also very essential to me as well as some social and entertainment platforms, where I can take the inspiration.

What does your office space look like?

I can say homie. It literally fees like home, as we have a proper kitchen and dining space, a balcony. My working space is minimalistic, MacBook, stationery, notebook & cactus. There are also some cute little things to create the mood, but in general, I would say it’s minimalistic and organized.

What kind of music do you listen when you are working?

I prefer house, techno, hip-hop when working. It gives me energy and mood to think and create.

Do you have a way to organize your day to maximize your work?

I try to keep work/life balance, so apart from the main work-design, I try to allocate some time making sure I do not miss any of my favorite activities such as taking photos, learning (languages or professional courses), swimming/gym. If I receive a good portion of inspiration, I become productive.

What tips would you give to improve productivity?

I think prioritizing the projects or tasks to be completed is the key to efficiency. Especially it makes sense when you have a lot to do. Another thing is breaking down big chunks into small pieces and structuring them. When you do not think over priorities and do not decompose, it looks like mission impossible.

The thing I do with a great pleasure is ticking or crossing off completed pieces from the list.

What is the best advice anyone has given you?

I’m lucky to be always surrounded by people who express great ideas and share their thoughts. I learn from everyone and it’s difficult to highlight just one advice given to me. I believe you grow as a person when you deal with people in different environments and situations.

What is your best tip for saving time?

Plan. Stick to plan and do not postpone things you can do now. It sounds trivial and difficult from the first glance and a lot of people fail. But as statistics show it takes just 21 days for the person to adopt a habit.

What is your routine start and end of the day?

Drink tea and check Facebook. Yes, everyone is addicted nowadays ☺

Aside from your computer and your phone, what gadget can you not you go without?

To be honest, I use a laptop and phone most of the time. Sometimes I read books in Kindle and listen to music with my iPod. Also, I have a skate if it can be classified as a device, of course.
