Karen Hakobyan

Your current job : 

I’m currently working as a lecturer of industrial sketch and art photography in National University of Architecture and Construction of Armenia (NUACA) and Franco-German Engineering Institute in Armenia And as a stage designer in Armenian National Academic Theatre of Opera and Ballet named after Alexander Spendiaryan 

In which city are you located?

I’m located in Yerevan 

What tools are essential to your life (app, software, etc..) 

My main passion is photography, and I’m obsessed about lenses; many many lenses and deep editing in PS to express what I need to tell about the beauty of the surrounding world in every aspect of it. 

My favorite tool for sketching is a pen and my collection of pens that I use for analog sketching.

What does your office space look like?

 Do you know how the real chaos looks like? a chaos that gives birth to art.       

If no, then you are welcome to my workspace, my room. But beware, people are getting lost in there.  

Honestly, my workspace in universities isn’t any alike to the one in my home, which is the most comfortable place for me to work. 

What kind of music do you listen to when you are working?

My working music in different, divided into phases. Currently, my inspiration comes from the symphonic covers of the group Pink Floyd and of their other original compositions. 

Sometimes I feel a need for house music. Music is my life. I hear it even when asleep, and there are chaotic, beautiful lines in my head.

Do you have a way to organize your day to maximize your work? 

Usually, in the beginning, my day is a pure improvisation. But when I do the first step of working, it dynamically goes on and on

What tips would you give to improve productivity? 

The first thing you have to do is to divide your work into parts. And don’t forget to keep the order. If you can’t do it just keep calm and eat yogurt.

You’re better than your colleagues to :

My thoughts are more extraordinary and I’m totally dedicated to my efforts of making them come true. 

Sometimes people doubt that I got married to my camera having a parallel thought that I betray “her” with pens.

What is the best advice anyone has given you? 

“in critical moments just keep calm and eat yogurt. While eating don’t deny to listen to what they say but anyway do what you are born to do.”

What is your best tip for saving time? 

Practice much, it will mainly turn out automatically. Understand your favorite tools by judging the positive and the negative sides of them. 

What is your routine start and end of the day? 

I try to wake up with big efforts, find a way to get out of my chaos then go to work, at the end of work I come home and continue producing until the sunrise. I

Aside from your computer and your phone, what gadget can you not you go without?
