Nune Khachatryan, storyboard Artist/Illustrator at “Yans Media”

Published by Leonardo Calcagno

Your current job :

I’m a Storyboard Artist/Illustrator at “Yans Media”

In which city are you located?

In Yerevan, Armenia

A word to define what kind of worker you are :

Ummm… maybe Phoenix, because often I’m literally dying and then I rising with a new motivation passion for work.

What tools are essential to your life (app, software, etc..)

Like a golden rule, Photoshop is a mother goddess and illustrator is the father god 😀

Besides that, of course, I use paper and pen for most of my sketches.

What does your office space look like?

For this moment it’s a green space with multiple computers, tablets and a big TV screen for awesome animations to keep us on a wave. Also, there are always some toys on my desk. For example slinki, kinetic pink sand, yo-yo, rubber chicken etc. Literally this Monday we’ll move to a brand new place. It’s a white space, which will be covered with illustrations. One more exciting thing about it it’s a big balcony with a view of the whole Yerevan (because we’re on the last floor of a new building).

What kind of music do you listen to when you are working?

It depends on a deadline. Fast and energetic music like “System Of A Down” and “Die Antwoord” are for the short ones, for the usual deadlines I listen to Disney’s animation soundtracks and pop music from the 90’s. Finally, when I have a bunch of time I listen to blues from the mid 20’th century.

Do you have a way to organize your day to maximize your work?

Not really. I just have to look beautiful to feel confident. That’s the only thing I need to maximize my work

What tips would you give to improve productivity?

1. In any unknown situation CTRL+Save

2. If you’re stuck at a peace of your artwork don’t wait for the muse, just move on. Otherwise, You’ll lose your time and passion for work.

3. Follow only “bad-ass” artists. That won’t let you even think about average results.

4. Find someone who can give you a constructive feedback. If You listen to them you’ll push yourself much forward.

5. Learn about the Golden Ratio as much as you can and make it work for You.

You’re better than your colleagues to :

Well, I have more experience in multiple creative fields, which helps me to think big.

What is the best advice anyone has given you?

“Don’t do things that millions can do. Do things that Nune would do, because Nune is one in a million.”

What is your best tip for saving time?

As I already said I don’t wait for the muse. I just move on, because If I’m stuck that won’t give me something extra. It always takes a piece of my passion away. Most of the time moving forward is a life-saving choice

What is your routine start and end of the day?

When I wake up and I start taking care of myself, then after I go to work.

After work, I get lunch with friends or family hangout a bit and go home to prepare for my next beautiful morning to create new.

Aside from your computer and your phone, what gadget can you not you go without?

The first place belongs to my crowns, headpieces or some interesting hairstyles. As I already said I have to feel beautiful so I feel confident.

And of course, the second place is for my lovely Wacom Intuos Pro.

p.n. I always have my sketchbook with me, because “you’ll never know where life can give you a muse”.
