Who are you and y our current job : 

 I am Angela, the owner of New Lifeshark Records in 45128 Essen, Germany opened in Sep. 1995 – started with a mailorder and label in 91, it’s all ’cause we love music and people (also, can you tell us about your journey in opening the record store? and why?) : 

In which city are you located? 

Essen; Germany

What musical styles do you specialize in? 

Rock, Progressive, Indie; Metal, punk and wave, Psychedelic; Jazz, Psychedelic etc. 

  

Can you give a small tour of the music scene in your town? 

we have lots clubs and venues and a lot of musicians are from our area. for Clubs: Cafe Nord and Turock in Essen for metal, Freakshow in Essen for Punk and Hardcore and metal, Trompete in Bochum for gothic and Electronic Music —– Bands like Kreator and Sodom are from Essen and lots of small Indie bands, its a big scene.

What’s it like working in a record shop? 

it’s always fun, to listen to music and to talk about records and music to the people. You put all your effort and love into this

What mind-blowing album are you listing right now? 

White light, White heat from the Social Distortion – it wakes me up, makes me smile (reminds me of the tour they did) and its good for dancing, it just kicks you and brings you in a good mood !!!! 

What does it take for an indie record shop to survive? 

you have to love it and have to be there for your customers always
