Who are you and your current job :

Jason Galaz. Founder of Muddy Roots Records & Events. We host music festivals across the U.S. and Europe as well as press records ranging from bluegrass to garage rock. The record shop is our headquarters and flagship for current independent music and pioneering country western and rock n roll.

What musical styles do you specialize in?

50’S to 80’S country and rock

Can you give a small tour of the music scene in your town?

A few thousand mid-century country western singles, a few bins of 12″ classics and up and coming artists in another. We also have a furnished vintage living room listening station.

What’s it like working in a record shop?

The Dream.

What mind-blowing album are you listing right now?

Pat Reedy & The Longtime Goners because it’s real deal blue collar country from a grown-up punk who works construction.

What does it take for an indie record shop to survive?

Another job. Not enough people purchase physical copies of music anymore.

What does Record Store Day, mean to you and your business?

RSD is the one day I can count on large groups of locals to come in and shop.

Tips for musicians launching an album?

Never quit and don’t be anything but your own expression.
