Who are you :
James Chia Han Lee.
Your current job :
I’m an artist and freelance graphic designer.
In which city are you located?
A word to define what kind of worker you are :
What tools are essential to your life (app, software, etc..)
My hand’s man.
What does your office space look like?
It’s my bedroom, so there’s a bed. It’s quite small and I also paint in it so it’s always at least a little messy. Art, books, papers, plants, pens, and brushes everywhere.
What kind of music do you listen to when you are working?
All kinds! Lately, I’ve been on a kick for old soul/funk stuff and MPB. Maggot Brain and Arthur Verocai. I find that repetitive stuff like krautrock and minimal techno help me find a good groove if I’m working on something task oriented.
Do you have a way to organize your day to maximize your work?
I got a tip from a friend who’s really got their shit together and they recommended check-boxing all the little things you want to do throughout the day. It makes it hard to forget anything and it just feels good checking stuff off your list, so you build this weird productive momentum on good days. I use Google keep for this kinda thing.
What tips would you give to improve productivity?
Don’t worry about forcing yourself to work if you keep finding yourself back on social media procrastinating. Take a break from your workspace and come back later. A breather is needed sometimes.
You’re better than your colleagues to :
I’m probably better than them at making beef noodle soup. My beef noodle soup is fire.
What is the best advice anyone has given you?
Drink lots of water.
What is your best tip for saving time?
If you’re in a public bathroom, maybe don’t dry your hands after washing them? It’s just water! I clap it out a few times over the sink and go. Save the paper towels, it’s completely unnecessary and crazy to me. I think there’s something very wrong with the way people waste things on the regular.
What is your routine start and end of the day?
Start with a smoothie. End with snacks.
Aside from your computer and your phone, what gadget can you not you go without?
Not really a gadget, but probably my water bottle. I drink lots of water.
