Differences across slot games types

Differences across slot games types

Published by Programme B

You might think that all slots are pretty much the same, but that’s not necessarily the case. Although they are played in a similar manner, the ins and out of each one can be completely different, and this is why it’s good to know what’s what when it comes to the different games you might be going to play more slot games.

Classic Slots

Slot machines first came into existence in 1895. They were created by Charles Fey, and the very first version was called the Liberty Bell. This game was very simple, had a pull-down lever, and – for the first time ever – paid out real money rather than bar tokens. It is for this reason that the Liberty Bell really took off, and why it is remembered today.

Classic slot games are based upon the first slot machines with three rotating drums along with a lever on the edge. And several of these three-reel slots contain just one pay line running across one row. Naturally, retro three-reel slots often provide more choices than original slots, however, you are able to play slots that are literally exactly as they were when they were first invented if that’s something you want to do – it depends how retro you want to go.

Video Slots

Video (multi-line) slot games would be the hottest games nowadays. Why? Essentially, it’s because they boast a lot better extra features than traditional slots, and they come equipped with amazing graphics and soundtracks – sometimes they are like mini-movies when you play them. Most video slots contain five reels, but several of the modern ones boast six, or perhaps a lot more. And far more reels would mean additional pay lines; therefore, it is not surprising that several of these video slots with more pay lines can have thousands of them.  Who wouldn’t want to try winning when there are so many chances to do it? It is also well worth mentioning that you will find an assortment of themes in video slots, making them even more interesting.

Progressive Slots

While progressive slot video games don’t differ very much from video slots regarding gameplay, they actually do differ considerably with regards to winning potential. In video slots, the jackpot is stuck – it is what it is and you either win it or you don’t. In progressive slots this is not the case; the jackpot keeps rising every time someone doesn’t win (hence, the title progressive). And make no mistake about it, the payouts in these progressive slots are monstrous. Take Microgaming’s Mega Moolah, for instance. In 2015, a British solider known as John Heywood received the jackpot in this particular game. And guess just how much he won? £13.2 million. Classic slots and video slots cannot compete with this kind of prize.
