Solid Wood Vs. Laminate Tabletops

Solid Wood Vs. Laminate Tabletops

Published by Programme B

Wood is clearly a popular choice for restaurant furniture, whether it’s for chairs, tables, or flooring. It’s a great material that’s easy to get, it’s durable, and stylish as well. Even though wood is great, it’s fairly expensive and not everyone can afford it. If you’re still wanting a wood-like material then, a great alternative to solid wood is wood laminate.

Wood laminate is a faux wood material that is made from several layers of synthetic materials. It looks and feels like real wood and even has similar qualities, such as its durability and stability. Despite having all of this, there is still a big difference between solid wood and wood laminate.

Solid Wood

Solid wood is a great material to look for when you’re looking at furniture. Wood furniture is arguably the best material to use for furniture, especially when it’s high quality. It always looks great, it’s easy to maintain, and it’s adaptable to many different styles. No matter if you’re furnishing a sports bar or a five-star restaurant, wood furniture can always bring the space together. The longevity of wood is also a great reason to use it in your furniture. In most cases, wood furniture lasts for fifteen years, or even longer! This is great because it saves you money on furniture repairs and replacements.

While there are many upsides to having wooden furniture, there are also some downsides to it. The main one is cost. This factor usually depends on the type of wood, as some types are more difficult to get. Maple, elm, and mahogany are the best woods for furniture, and therefore the most expensive. To keep costs down, you can always get a cheaper wood, however, you risk losing some quality if you choose to do that.

Another downside to wood furniture is its susceptibility to damage. Overtime (and if it’s not taken care of properly), wooden furniture can become discolored by both water and sunlight. Not only that, it shows its wear-and-tear through scratches and other marks. Sometimes their marks can be buffed out, but if left for long periods of time, they can cause irreparable damage.

Wood laminate:

Wood laminate is a great material to use when you need to buy commercial furniture in bulk. It’s primarily used for desks and other furniture for classrooms, but it’s also great for restaurant tables. It has so many similarities to wood, which lets it aesthetically fit into any space and it’s durable like real wood too. It’s a good option if you’re on a budget too, as it’s cheaper than real wood. Additionally, it’s especially great if you are buying for more than one restaurant.

You can also fix wood laminate material rather easily too. Since restaurant furniture gets a lot of use, it helps to know that you can easily buy a replacement tabletop or flooring if you need to.

Just like with real wood, there are also negatives to buying wood laminate furniture. For one, even though it looks like wood, it still doesn’t look as nice as real wood. It can still be used in many restaurants, however, you wouldn’t want to put that in a classier restaurant. Also, like real wood, wood laminate can be damaged easily. It’s not as hard as real wood, so it can easily get scratched and show grooves. Not only does it show damage, but also it gets completely ruined when it gets wet. This can make things difficult in a restaurant since accidents happen and drinks often spill.

It’s clear that both options are great. However, depending on your situation one might be better than the other. Be sure to do your research, and look at your space and budget to figure out which one is best for your space.
