What were the challenges for your business in 2021?
A human resources challenge. As many know, at Maltstrom we are a very (very) small team. And the post of brewer has been occupied… by ONE brewer, Élaura Bussière, for almost 5 years. And Élaura had a beautiful baby girl last May. Everyone was really happy for her! Except that it makes big boots (of water!) To be replaced temporarily, even more in the context of labor crisis! So, after a few people have tried the position, it was finally me who replaced her since the end of May, while continuing my task as Managing Director. It’s going very well, even if in the evening I can really feel my mid-forties in my legs! Luckily, we have a great team that is working extra hard while they wait for her return in January.

What are the upcoming projects for your business in 2022?
At the same time, we are in the process of finishing installing a second fermentation room, with an automatic bottling machine, for our entire wild section. We are starting to have a fairly large cellar (around 150 barrels, plus 5 casks). We should therefore see more and more barricades of Maltstrom on the shelves. A small change of image is also on the program for early 2022. We will change the labels a little to better position ourselves on the shelves, and also to harmonize the different products released over the past 5 years.
