The brand’s popularity grew with each new model, and by the late 1960s Jeep was considered a top American brand. AMC was bought out by Chrysler Corporation in 1987, which continued producing Jeep vehicles until 1998 when it sold off its stake to the newly formed DaimlerChrysler AG.
Land Rover vs. Jeep: Similar Yet Different
Although often grouped together as a type, in reality, Land Rovers and Jeeps are quite different.
Land Rover tends to be more luxurious and expensive, while Jeep is more rugged and affordable. But the two share many of the same qualities: both are built to last, and each has a loyal following among die-hard fans who drive their vehicles for decades or longer.
