Yakima Chief Hops announces the opening of their distribution warehouse in Brossard, Quebec

Published by Leonardo Calcagno

Yakima Chief Hops is opening a distribution warehouse in Brossard, Quebec in the summer of 2023!

The new facility will create four new jobs and provide Canadian brewers with localized access to New Zealand extracts and hops available for local pickup or shipping, and all YCH brands, including Cryo™.

The warehouse will serve breweries in Quebec, Ontario, all Maritime provinces, and Manitoba. They will  be able to pay in Canadian dollars.

Construction will begin in April, adding refrigeration systems for exceptional cold storage capacity. By September, the space will be fully operational, and at the start of harvest, the 2023 crop year hops will be available for shipment.

“This is a watershed moment for the entire Canadian brewing industry. I’m thrilled for our brewers. Long-time customers have been asking for it. Now all current and future customers will be able to get the best quality hops on the market at a great price, in a timely manner,” said Luc Beaulieu, Director of Sales Canada, in the press release.

Homebrewing & Industry 2021

Why is this important?

  • Brewers are looking for ways to reduce the cost of hops from the United States and elsewhere. Delivery costs are often very expensive.

  • Also, payment in Canadian dollars makes a big difference in the profit margin of companies.

  • Suppliers of hops, grains, and equipment are exploring new ways to help breweries through this difficult period.
