Who are you :
Hiroyuki from Tokyo, I’m a professional illustrator. I learn my art from Mr. Nagasawa Setsu. Since the big earthquake in 2011, I started ‘Don’t give up Japan’ project, which is series of landscape in North East Japan, which disappeared after the disaster. I work in advertising and publishing. Won the Kodansha Publishing Culture Award 2001. I’m a member of Tokyo Illustrators Society I teach illustration at AOYAMAJUKU.

A word to define what kind of worker you are :
35 years experienced illustrator who can deliver a suitable image.
What tools are essential to your life (app, software, etc..)
Painting (Guache), brush and paper. Photoshop, when I adjust colour. Illustrator, when I do a design work.
What does your office space look like?
I share my studio with my wife who is also an illustrator. My studio is quite simple. The desk and shelf were order-made to work efficiently.
What kind of music do you listen when you are working ?
I don’t listen to music while creating an image, as music may affect my psychological condition. I like Sara Vaughan, Led Zepppelin, Peter Paul and Mary, and Seiko Matsuda.
Do you have a way to organize your day to maximize your work ?
Brewed coffee in morning. Walking with my dog. Stretch my body and mind. Health management.
You’re better than your colleagues to :
I can draw a picture without thinking about a style / rule. Whatever I draw, I am sure that it will be my image with my personality.
What is the best advice anyone has given you ?
We don not need three-dimensional representation in painting, even though it is free or elegant (dignity).
What is your best tip for saving time ?
Do what you can do now.
What is your routine start and end of the day ?
I wake up at 7, have a breakfast with coffee, walk with my dog (night time in winter) and go to work from 10-7pm. At my studio, I draw a picture ad upload my works on my websites, and have a sweet at 3pm. Depending on date, I go to have a lecture at an illustration school and go to a gallery in some evening. When I am home, I check news onTV and check my SNS. I go to bed at 1am.
Aside from your computer and your phone, what gadget can you not you go without?
I go out with my smartphone and tablet, not other gadget.
