Who are you and what is your background?

My name is Christy Rumbaugh, and I am the founder of Bless·ed Booch

Your current job:

Founder of Bless·ed Booch

In which city:

 Orange County, CA

How did you discover kombucha?

I had tried it in college on a recommendation from a friend as a hangover cure but hated it. Then I came across Health Aid years later when they were just starting out at the Malibu farmers market, and fell in love.

What prompted you to start your company?

I started homebrewing once the woman I bought it from at the Laguna Beach Farmers Market closed her business and sold her cultures. I started sharing my brew with family and friends and received an overwhelmingly positive response. I had always wanted to start my own business in the culinary world, and kombucha just seemed to be calling my name.

What makes your product unique?

Our kombucha is “farm to bottle.” We only source our produce from small local farms who are “better than organic,” as we say, because they use old world methods and are not on a commercial level. We view our booch as medicine and introduce a multitude of medicinal herbs to enhance the health benefits and flavor. We also infuse each individual bottle by hand.

What really sets our kombucha apart is the addition of intention and energy. We create a concentrated structured water using healing crystals, the sun, moon, stars, positive intentions and affirmations to charge the water with a high level of energy. We also use crystal singing bowls in our fermentation chambers which exude a healing matrix of grounding, peaceful energy. Together these techniques are intended to create high vibrations of healing energy to promote optimal cellular function and an overall blissful sensation.

What do you want to convey through your brand image?

 Local – Organic – Sustainable – Magical

What are the main challenges in your company?

Growth! Finding a way to keep our brand image and business values, while scaling and finding profitability.

What tools are essential for your work(app, software)?

 Quickbooks, MileIQ, email

A word to define what type of worker you are:

 Dedicated, Efficient and Precise

What does your office space look like?

Our fermentation chambers and brewing equipment is immaculate, always organized and extremely clean. My desk is more of an organized chaos with waves of tidiness.

Do you have a way to organize your days to optimize your work?

 Lots of planning through lists!

What tips would you give to improve productivity?

setting goals, prioritizing and finding balance.

What is the best advice you have been given?

 Get everything in writing.

What are your end-of-day and early-day routine?

At the end of the day, I normally start planning for the day ahead, finishing tasks that are urgent and making a list of the game plan for the next day(s).

I start the day answering emails and completing the tasks outlined the day before.

Apart from your computer and your phone, what gadget cannot you do without?

 pH meter

upcoming products or projects?

We are looking for space to finally open our own facility. Thus far, we have been in a shared kitchen space and have now outgrown it.
