How to Care for Artificial Plants?

Published by Programme B

Gone are the days when artificial plants looked, well, artificial. If you check out a few of the artificial plants that are on display at a nearby store, you will think that you are actually looking at real plants. These are made with utmost care and precision so that these look nothing less than the real plants. There is no dearth of doubt about the fact that artificial plants can easily transform a space. However, there is one area of concern when it comes to fake plants. With time, these do tend to collect dust and lose natural luster. Since investing in fake plants is not cheap, there are ways to help you clean the plants and maintain their realness for life.

Tools Needed to Take Good Care of Fake Plants

Taking good care of artificial plants is a rather time-consuming task. You also need to have all the necessary tools handy to help you clean off the dust with ease. Some of the tools that you will need include cotton balls, a pair of disposable gloves, a paintbrush or toothbrush or a feather duster, a portable handheld vacuum cleaner, and some spare cleaning towelettes or a microfiber cleaning cloth.

Ways to Clean Your Artificial Plants

Start off by proper dusting in order to get rid of any excess debris, dust, and dirt from the plants. There are ways to go about doing this task. You can simply run the feather duster over the fake plants or you may also carry the plants, if they are portable, outside where you can easily use a paintbrush to remove any accumulation of dust or dirt not just from the leaves and branches but also from the setting, rock, and moss.

There will be several hard-to-reach places on your artificial plants. Trying to clean such areas will require some commonsense and a toothbrush. Places like the inside of a silk flower are pretty difficult to clean. Using a toothbrush can help you in this regard by removing the dust that is present in several tighter-to-reach spots.

Your vacuum cleaner will prove to be a great help when it comes to cleaning dirty fake plants whether in office or at home. The machine will not just suck in the dirt and dust from easy-to-reach areas but also from those spots that are extremely tough to reach. You may use a handheld brush and attach it to your vacuum cleaner in order to suck in any debris that may be left behind.

Once all the tough-to-reach spots are cleaned, you may shift your focus on the leaves and textured trunks of the plants. These places are easy to clean and also the fastest to collect dust. You should use a cloth to clean these parts. Once all the cleaning work is done, do not forget to apply a tiny drop of furniture polish on a microfiber cloth and wipe every leaf with it. This will give a natural and light sheen to the leaves.
