Anecdote/memory: I have fond memories of when I was a judge at the World Championships in 2011. I had the opportunity to meet people in the industry who have remained good friends. The experience of being a judge in an “all-style” competition was truly enjoyable when you loved the organoleptic roller coaster! You won’t see me in the photos because I had to leave before the end due to a family matter.
Beer discovered at the Mondial de La Bière: La Corte Real du Naufrageur, an excellent pale ale, flirting with IPAs by the amount of hops, and which at that time was a very innovative recipe with the use of Quebec ingredients (100%???) and the beautiful dose of hops selected only in leaves. The interpretation of the recipe tasted on tap at the World Championships was truly fantastic, it was in 2009 maybe before.
What are your plans for this summer? More experimental and barrel-aged beers on our lines to make our patio even more festive. The use of boreal plants has never been used in brewing to our knowledge and products that have spent up to three years in barrels will be on the menu!
Participating brewery at the Mondial Are you bringing a special beer to the Mondial that we should try? : The beer is called “Le Large“, which refers to Lac St-Jean in winter where it is possible to walk away from the edge to the open sea, as the lake is completely frozen. The beer was developed this year with the same cryo-fractionation method as the Gros Mollet de Glace, but with an original classic saison base recipe including Quebec barley and Mandarina Bavaria hops. A complex, flavorful, and festive result!
