Best Cocktails for Home Drinking

Published by Programme B

It is inevitable to say that we endure large amounts of stress every day, especially now due to the global pandemic. So, truly one of the best things we can do for ourselves, from time to time, is to relax with a drink or two and, for a moment, try to forget what is happening around us.

One of the most popular drinks that are known around the globe are cocktails and rightfully so.

To any bar, club, or restaurant you go to you will always see cocktails as an offer on the drink menu. To this day it is impossible to know where the word cocktail comes from.

There is an endless debate about whether the cocktails first originated in America or Europe. But one thing that is known for sure is that the cocktail as such was mentioned for the first time in 1806 in the magazine “The Balance” in the USA.

Three of the most popular cocktails around the world are:

  1. Martini
  2. Long Island
  3. Mojito

One thing that can be said with certainty is that cocktails were most popular during the time when the prohibition came into force in 1919.

The primary goal of mixing drinks was to make people get drunk faster and feel the stronger effects of alcohol.

Party at Home

One of the biggest issues, especially for the youth, is that for over a year now people have had no chances or opportunities to go to a club or a bar until early hours. We can’t drink the night away as we once could. Luckily until the nightlife opens we can improvise.

The consolation lies in the fact that we can make a mini party or cocktail night with our family and closest neighbors and we can pretend to be some famous and professional mixologists.

Put on a bit of music and maybe some ambiance lights and you can feel as if you are out in the town.

But, the main thing you need to consider when making a cocktail is that it is not a cheap “sport”. Also, after the home party, you are the one in charge of cleaning, which is not easily done with a hangover.

Since we are uncertain when exactly life will return to normal, it is not wise to waste money just like that. If you are opting for a night on the town to come to you, make sure you are going all out. Explore the Canadian online casino niche, the music market, and even fashion to get some ideas.

The good thing is that you don’t need a lot of money or a lot of ingredients to make some very tasty cocktails that you will surely be satisfied with.

Easy Cocktails for Home Drinking

The first cocktail that you can make at home at a cheap price is the martini. Martini is a classic and best-known mixed alcohol beverage in the world. The ingredients for this drink are gin or vodka and dry vermouth.  Orange bitter is optional.

The second cocktail you can easily make is Manhattan, named after the famous part of New York City. The ingredients are Bourbon or rye whiskey, sweet vermouth, and bitters.

The third drink you can mix up is Cosmopolitan. The ingredients are lemon vodka, triple sec, cranberry, and lime juice.

The Beauty of Cocktails

The beauty is in the eye of the beholder is a statement that fits perfectly into the definition and description of cocktails.

No matter if the cocktail is with or without alcohol, lavishly or simply decorated, it truly represents a form of art. And the freedom that exists in making your own unique drink shows the beauty of choice and our personal taste and style.

The beauty of cocktails is not only in drinking but also in choosing the ingredients, precisely determining the dose of alcohol and sweets, and then mixing it all up.

Some people underestimate mixologists. People who are not familiar with cocktails are easy to assume that making cocktails is much easier than it is. But, in fact, the whole process is not that easy and mixologists really put a lot of effort into it.

Another beautiful thing about cocktails is that there is no end to them. Every day someone mixes different drinks and makes something new so the options are really endless. Who knows maybe your drink will be the next big hit in the world.

Debunking Cocktail Myths

There are a couple of myths about cocktails circling in the air that need to be debunked.

The first myth is that cocktails are hard to make and that only the rich can make them.

In reality, all you need is desire and will. With an improvised shaker, a cocktail jigger, some ice, and the drinks you want to mix. All of which can be found at very affordable prices.

The second myth is that ice is not that important. Maybe in some other drinks, it comes as “icing on the cake” but not in this one. Never forget that ice is a key part of a magnificent cocktail.

Finally, many inexperienced men have declared cocktails as an exclusive female drink as if it were a low-alcohol beverage. That is absolutely not true. A cocktail can be such a strong drink that it can blur before your eyes after just one glass.
