With Maxime Lapointe, Co-Owner

How long have you been brewing beer and what are your brewery’s core values?
My brother Étienne has been brewing since he was 18, that is to say for about 15 years. The fundamental values of our brewery are respected, both in brewing methods and traditions and in relations with our customers. With cooperation and teamwork, every member of the company is responsible for the success of the company. Passion! To succeed in this environment, it is essential to love what you do and to put your heart and effort into it in order to achieve the expected results. Finally, we set the bar very high in terms of the quality of our products.

What are the main types of beer you brew?
We explore all types of beer and do not close the door to any style. The majority of our beers are more in the classic style but the diversity of our range is one of our strengths. Our regular range is inspired by Belgian, English, and American styles.

What makes your beer unique? Are you bringing a special beer to Mondial that we should try? If so, what is it and what can you tell us about it?

I believe the consistency and stability of our beer have made it unique. It is a challenge, in a craft brewery, to juggle imponderables, shortages of raw materials, supplies, labor, etc. Despite everything, I believe that we succeed in offering a quality product that can compete with larger, better-equipped breweries.

Our only beer, which will be at the Bucké kiosk by the way, is our English Brown Ale. It is a beer that has proven itself by standing out several times in various competitions, such as Beer of the Year and the gold medal in the Brown Ale category at the 2018 CBA. de la Bière 2019 and bronze at the Canada Beer Cup in 2022.

What are the plans for the future?
We are currently working on setting up a tasting room in a new location adjacent to the factory. We are planning the opening for the end of autumn 2023. This year, it is also the return of the bottle for us. Some special brews will actually be bottled, such as our Monochrome Series products at the end of the year. Finally, we continue to develop our presence in restaurants and bars in order to promote our products at their best.
